Growing up bilingual in English and Mandarin, I learned early that the hardest part of communication isn’t having something to say but finding the right words.

Fun fact: One of my favorite things about learning new languages is finding translations for idioms. Whether for fun or travel, I’ve tried my hand at learning French, Italian, Spanish, Icelandic, Japanese, Taiwanese, Mandarin, Amharic, Greek, Portuguese, and Arabic.

That curiosity about how clear messaging can bridge across cultures and generations led me to practice my writing and study international relations and languages throughout high school and university.

One of my most pivotal experiences as a teenager was being the Editor-in-Chief of my high school newspaper. It taught me to view writing like a sport; to get stronger at anything, you have to keep flexing your muscles.

I studied French language and literature for eight years and later majored in Global Studies and Business Writing, focusing on how culture, context, and history shape not only how stories are written but also how they are shared.

Getting a degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara means you also pick up a few adventurous hobbies, like surfing!

I began my career at the world’s largest Public Relations firm, advising C-suite leaders at global brands and becoming the go-to consultant for award-winning campaigns that connected audiences across oceans. Working with team members and clients from all across the world was always my favorite part of the job.

One of my biggest accomplishments is being the 2025 Young Lions U.S. Silver Medalist, awarded by the Cannes Festival of Creativity, the largest global competition for young marketers.

Today, I am the Head of Marketing and Communications at a global, Venture Capital-backed AI startup expanding access to education technology, helping even more international and English Language Learner (ELL) students become stronger writers.

It’s one of my greatest joys to see how our team and product are helping students from all over the world be more engaged and motivated in their studies.

Whether drafting a secret manuscript for a book I might publish one day, or preparing a CEO for her next big speech, I’m a writer through and through.
